An Anubistic Hymn to Life (for those who've understood there's fuck all to understand)

Recently the Prophet listened to yet another great Italian physicist — one of those left shattered by the absurdity of all things quantum — who, with rare honesty, admitted that “science” doesn't know shit.

Partly because of this and partly, perhaps, out of fear of approaching death, he has built himself a new religion, talking about spirit, consciousness and so on… effectively going back to Plotinus' One, from 2,400 years ago.

The Prophet has had enough.

The history of humanity begins with the invention of gods to explain whatever could not be understood.

Then philosophy is born, with the aim of explaining reality without the use of gods.

But lo and behold, the gods turn into the One, the monads, the world of ideas, numbers, cosmic energy…

The form changes, not the substance.

Humans always have to invent something divine.

Partly out of fear of death.

Partly to justify their own ignorance.

A few philosophers really did try to explain to humans what they are.

But they were instantly branded “nihilists”.

In science too, several scientists, faced with their own nothingness — because ignorance means nothingness — reacted by taking refuge in talk of spirit, consciousness and “something beyond”.

As Nietzsche reports in The Birth of Tragedy, Silenus — the wise and drunken companion of the god Dionysus — when King Midas asks him what is best for man, replies:

“Oh, wretched ephemeral race, children of chance and misery, why do you compel me to tell you what it would be most expedient for you not to hear? What is best of all is utterly beyond your reach: not to be born, not to be, to be nothing.
But the second best for you is — to die soon.”

This statement is neither nihilistic nor pessimistic.

On the contrary, it is liberating: only when humans are fully aware of their own nothingness will they be able to be free.

Out of answers to death, religions were born.

Out of answers to man's nothingness, ideologies were born.

Either way, nothing but bullshit.

No, dear Adept, you have no rights whatsoever.

Absolute zero.

If you are born unlucky, in a place full of people who want to kill you, your only right is to drop dead.

Of hunger, of disease, or under a bomb.

If you survive, you get deported because your land is “needed by them”.

That is humanity.

All the talk of “rights” and “paradises” is just a tool for taming the sheep.

A sad message? Far from it.

When it is finally understood that life has no meaning, people will stop throwing it away looking for one.

When it is understood that the human does not exist (as a privileged entity), and has no predefined rights, then he will be able to truly live, without slaughtering other people who think they have different rights.

The good Anubist understands that life is here and now (to quote), not later, not somewhere else.

There is only one real enemy: time.

Heraclitus' “Panta rhei”.

The Buddha's “impermanence”.

The God of Time, Cronus, who devours his children.

History is full of attempts to say the same thing: time wears you down.

So, having understood that life is what it is, and that time is the great destroyer, the good Anubist does not waste it.

He doesn't chase bullshit.

He doesn't saddle himself with obligations or guilt.

He thinks only about raising his own Quality of Life, the legendary AQL, enjoying every second — while of course respecting the second precept: don't bust anyone's balls.

When the Adept understands that everything he has read is neither sad nor nihilistic, but the first true Hymn to Life and Freedom, then he can say he has laid excellent foundations for raising his AQL™.

Now go, adept, live free, do whatever you please “here and now” and don't waste any more time.

Anubis sees you… even if he minds his own fucking business.
